2/18/2023 0 Comments Transporter audiThe main baddy - Gianni attempts to escape by plane, and Franks chases after him in Gianni's own Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster (more product placement by the Audi group), later climbing from the car into a plane (yeah - ok), etc etc, more nonsense.Īnyway, the movies share a level of fast action-silliness commonly seen in James Bond movies, which one needs to suspend critical belief for a while, and just enjoy the ride. Ultimately this does become an issue in the movie though, as Frank, runs into very serious trouble with imposter physicians at the doctors surgery, though manages to escape with Jack only to find himself on the receiving end of a phone call telling him that he and Jack are in the sights of a sniper while they are in the Audi - doh! (Maybe this is why Audi has significantly stepped up the security specification for armoured versions of the 3rd generation Audi A8s, including High-strength steel and aramid fibre - just saying)įrank then starts a merry driving dance of taking Jack to the baddies, gets released, removes the explosives mounted to his car, etc etc, and begins an ever-increasing cycle of improbable events involving baddies, guns and cars. Quattro-drive for sure-footed traction and handling, 6.0 litres of V12 craziness for lots of gettaway oomph, and a nice light aluminium body for moving quickly - that said, if you are going to crash into things and get shot at, and armour plated Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7-Series might stand up to excessive abuse better - I digress. In 'Transporter 2', Frank has moved from Europe to Florida in the US, and we find his character driving a 2005 MY Audi A8 W12 Saloon, acting on behalf of a senior US Government official to drive his young son, Jack, to elementary school.Īn Audi A8 is a great choice of car for this kind of activity (great product placement, Audi). In the first movie, Frank consumes a number of cars, his own, and those owned by baddies. Frank's character is a 'driver' or more accurately a 'transporter' - an individual for hire (with car) for special delivery of important cargoes (usually people). The basic premise of each movie is centred around the character Frank Martin, played by Jason Stratham. ''Transporter 2' (2005) is the second of three movies in the 'Transporter' series.
